Tiger Fuel Company

The Markets

The idea seemed kind of crazy a while back but now you can find some pretty amazing offerings in places that either used to be or still operate as filling stations. When and where did this trend begin?

Well, we like to think that The Market at Bellair - formerly, Bellair Gulf Service in Charlottesville, Virginia helped pave the way.

These days, you can stop in at The Market at Bellair, and our other locations for a selection of our "Gourmet-to-Go" - fresh entrees, appetizers, salads, breakfast biscuits & tacos as well as decadent desserts prepared daily. Choose from a variety of ethnic favorites and classic American cuisine. And of course, our famous sandwiches - guaranteed to satisfy and inspire...

Company Bio

Tiger Fuel Company was established in August of 1982 with the purchase of an Exxon-branded petroleum distributor in Charlottesville, Virginia. Tiger Fuel Company has since expanded in the years following, building modern facilities for retail gasoline, car washes and convenience food stops, as well as providing home heating oil and propane gas products.

In 1990, Tiger Fuel Company opened a second distributor location in Lovingston, Nelson County, offering the same extensive line of petroleum products and services available in Charlottesville. In 2004, Tiger Fuel acquired the assets of Appomattox Sevistar Oil and Propane Company, and in 2007, also acquired the Appomattox Oil Company. Many Appomattox Oil Company employees continue to work with us.

Today Tiger Fuel Company is a dependable full service energy provider and a complete petroleum products distributor for Central Virginia. We are the area's largest distributor of home heating fuels, and we offer one-stop shopping for all your petroleum needs, and represent the following major brands: Exxon, Shell, BP, CITGO, and its own private label, EXCEL.

Wherever we do business, Tiger Fuel Company has established a reputation of commitment to our customers, providing them with reliable, affordable, and professional services.

Corporate Responsibility
Clean and Green

At Tiger Fuel Company, we recognize our responsibility to use natural resources in an environmentally sound manner, and we’re committed to helping make a positive impact on the environment and in our community. That’s why we provide clean-burning, economically efficient, and versatile propane.

It’s no coincidence that over 60 million homes nationwide rely on propane for their home comfort and energy needs. Propane is one of the lightest, simplest hydrocarbon gases in existence, making it one of the cleanest burning of all fossil fuels. Propane is absolutely nontoxic, and is not harmful to soil and water. Because propane poses no threat to the environment, the placement of propane tanks either above or belowground is not regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Every bit as kind to your wallet as it is to the environment, propane provides consistent efficiency. It is far more affordable to power your home with propane than with electric energy, and over time, propane-powered water heating can cost just a third of equivalent energy-powered water heating.

Propane is also highly valued for its broad versatility, and can handle a lot more than your barbeque grill. You can use propane to power your backup generator, stove, furnace, gas fireplace, tankless water heater, clothes dryer, garage heater and so much more.

Grace for Vets

Every Veterans Day on November 11th, our All American Car Wash locations participate in "Grace for Vets" to offer a Free Ultimate car wash for all Veterans and Active Duty Military. We do this every year and we feel it is the very least we can do for our local heroes. Please join us in saying "Thank you" to all of the men & women that have so bravely served. Each Veterans Day, each of our All American Car Wash locations are manned with Tiger Fuel Company Team Members ready to offer a Free Ultimate Wash and a sincere "Thank you" - something we believe our Veterans need to hear more often.

The mission of "Grace For Vets" - a non-profit organization, is to honor those who have served or are currently serving their country. This international program unites the car wash industry in an effort to say "Thank you" to all Veterans & Active Duty Military each year on Veterans Day. AACW & Tiger Fuel are proud to provide FREE Ultimate car washes to ALL Veterans and service personnel.

Local Hero Appreciation at Locust Grove

We recently took some time to simply say "Thank you!" to some of our local Heroes in the Locust Grove area near Orange Virginia. All area First Responders,Veterans and Active Duty Military were treated to a complimentary Champ’s Chicken Meal & Market Water.

We invited all of the local Fire/EMS, Police/Sheriff deptartments and we reached out to local VFW & American Legion posts to let folks know we wanted to treat them to a meal on us.

We were proud to welcome some local Heroes from all our Millitary branches and we found out a little bit about some of our regular loyal Customers - many of which were humble heroes we see in our Market everyday!

A special thanks goes our to our friends at Champs Chicken for bringing their impressive "Champs Food Truck" to help offer a free lunch to our local Heroes!

VA Craft Brewers Fest

The 6th Annual Virginia Craft Brewers Fest was scheduled Saturday, August 19 and was attended by nearly 100 breweries, many of which are proud to call the Charlottesville area their home. The event, hosted by Three Notch'd Brewing Company, welcomed thousands of craft beer enthusiasts to Downtown Charlottesville. By all accounts, the event was a success; not just because it gave us all something to smile about & toast to.

Everyday in Charlottesville, people visit, study, teach, work, play, compete and celebrate - and we do it all together.

Ask any local student, teacher, undergrad, professor, business owner, first-responder and proud member of Wahoo Nation what they think of Charlottesville and they will all tell you:

"We love Charlottesville!" - and you should too.

Mill Creek Day

If you have ever visited our Market at Mill Creek, you have likely met Jackie, our Store Manager. She has been with Tiger Fuel Company since 2010. Jackie and her Team recently hosted "Mill Creek Day" a fun way to celebrate our newly renovated location, new gourmet coffee station and Taylor Freezer Soft Serve (it's delicious!) It was an opportunity to meet some new friends and say "Thank You" to our loyal Market Customers. We had the folks from Blue Ridge Kettle Korn on hand cooking up their amazing popcorn, Basic City, Bold Rock& Three Notch'd were offering craft beer & cider tastings for the adults and kids enjoyed face painting, cotton candy and even a water slide! It was a wonderful day filled with games, prizes, free samples, discounted gas and the Monticello H.S. football team was on hand taking donations at our All American Car Wash. A true community event!

Locust Grove Customer Appreciation

We recently celebrated "Customer Appreciation Day" at our Market at Locust Grove. Lisa, our Store Manager & her Team did a fantastic job planning & organizing a fun day geared around just saying "Thank you" to our many Loyal Customers! We had games, offered samples and gave away prizes as we spent the day thanking old friends and making new ones.

At Tiger Fuel, we value our employees. In fact, our employees average four years of service in our Market stores, and our Market store managers average over 8 years of service. Some of our Tiger employees have been with us over 25 years! Our commitment to our employees' satisfaction and development is second to none.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake Fundraiser

Tiger Fuel Company and The Markets were proud to be sponsors of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge's event "Bowl for Kids' Sake". The event took place at AMF Keggler's Lanes in Charlottesville on May 4th. The funds raised at this event go towards matching more kids in-need with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Besides just sponsoring this event, our very own Gordon Sutton has been an active Big Brother for two years! The children in our community are very important as they serve as our future. We encourage everyone to check out the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and strive to be positive role models in our community! www.blueridgebigs.org

24th Annual Dinner of Champions

Gordon Sutton, Taylor Sutton, Ryan Whitlock, and their dates all took great pleasure in attending the 24th Annual Dinner of Champions on September 22nd 2016. The dinner and celebration, held at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville, honored Ronald R. Tweel. You can find his bio and a list of his many accomplishments here. The Dinner of Champions is the premier black-tie gala of the National MS Society. The event recognizes individuals and corporations for their commitment to the community and civic responsibility. Since the tradition began in 1992 the event has raised over $1.5 million dollars in an effort to create a world free of Multiple Sclerosis.
